The top cut of another season of the TTS league is here. Lets see what the top players have brought:

2 | 4 | 16% |
3 | 1 | 4% |
A strong preference for mono-affiliated lists here. It’s even stronger than it appears, as one of the double affiliated and the triple affiliated list both include unaffiliated as an option (probably as an option to run 5 wide at 14 for S.W.O.R.D. base whilst including Enchantress).

How the mighty have fallen: Black Order, the victors of season 5, are not being taken in the top cut at all. That’s a pretty smart decision in a Sam Spam heavy meta – most players recognise the Black Order can really struggle in to a list of durable, mobile, decent hitters like you get in Sam Spam. I know UtilityCookie was considering a Black Order/Convocation dual affiliation roster, but came down on the side of mono-Convocation. I like that as an idea though – playing convocation in to Sam Spam (and maybe Web Warriors) where they have a decent game, and dropping Black Order in to basically anything else. There are compromises that need to be made to make the roster work, but I think it would have been a really solid, versatile meta call. But given 8 Sam Spam and 7 Web Warriors players, maybe he’s fine with mono-Convocation (although his first knock out match is in to my Defenders!).
Yes, that’s a lot of Sam Spam, but there aren’t any players that weren’t playing him in qualifying. It’s still a very strong list, and in the hands of good players, I expect it to be there in the later rounds for sure. Web Warriors aren’t a surprise either: they are powerful and versatile. Two players have paired them up with Dormammu, which seems a great combination: Dormammu handing out power really turns on characters like Miles and Gwen for round one.

With nerfs incoming, I’m choosing to focus on the future: we know Enchantress and Medusa are being toned down and expect Okoye to be as well. So that leaves Doctor Voodoo placed to be a new staple at 4 threat, and I can see a lot of affiliations splashing him in after the changes hit. Buy stocks in Voodoo now. Iron Fist is slowing taking over the crown of the three threats: whether this continues depends on how popular Sam Spam continues to be, but he’s a threat in any affiliation, and in an increasingly attrition focussed meta his Heroes for Hire is simply excellent.

Spider Infected is maybe an unusual top extract, but Sam Spam loves it, and others may have included it as a Black Order hedge. Hammers and Research Station aren’t surprises, but something that is higher than expected is the single extract crises like Alien Ship and Skrulls: without Black Order, there are other affiliations looking to dominate the attrition game. Dark Dimension, Brotherhood and Convocation seem the front runner there, as they are the affiliations taking them.
